A British daily, ‘The Guardian’ recommended Girls’ Generation’s ‘The Boys’.
On March 14th, in the song introduction corner of ‘The Guardian’ called ‘Now Listening: Reader Playlist’, the main artist selected for this week is none other than our 9 beautiful angels. Every week, this corner invites a reader to recommend the songs they have been listening to.
Along with the music video of ‘The Boys’, Guardian also stated, “Girls’ Generation, having already conquered Asia, are currently taking first steps to cracking the west with their latest single ‘The Boys’. Eschewing the standard four-member lineup of typical girl groups, Korea’s finest boast nine impeccably groomed, perfectly pitched and exquisitely choreographed young ladies who deal exclusively in hypnotically catchy numbers. Less a band, more a force of nature.”
On March 14th, Yuri attended the production press conference of SBS drama ‘Fashion King’ at Lotte Cinema at Gimpo Airport, Seoul. To congratulate Yuri on her first acting challenge, DC Inside Yuri Gallery, Korean fancafe HwaSuEunHwa, KwonYuri125, Japanese fancafe mixi SNSD, Chinese fancafe FLY, Yuri Tieba, Thai fansite KkabYul, etc donated a whooping 1.73 tonnes of rice. The 1.73 tonnes of rice will be able to feed about 14,000 undernourished children.
Yuri transformed into an actress through her role as Choi Anna in the upcoming SBS drama ‘Fashion King’ which will be aired starting March 19th at 9.55pm KST.
A fan of Taeyeon in China has done a good deed in Taeyeon’s name to commemorate her 23rd birthday on March 9th.
The fan by the name of Chung Ho Lok stated through Weibo, “I have made a donation of 309 dictionaries to Nanjiang Xian, Sichuan Province. I do not have the skills to make videos, write great birthday messages or even a way to see Taeyeon in person. Therefore, in celebration of Taeyeon’s birthday, I’ve been thinking of doing this for quite some time. Although I feel sad that I couldn’t see the happy faces of the children who must be wondering who Taeyeon is, I’m thankful to Taeyeon who gave me the inspiration to do this.”
SBS‘ newest drama series ‘Fashion King‘ airs its pilot episode next week, and Girls’ Generationmember Yuri who has been cast as a female lead shared her thoughts on acting for the first time.
At a recent press conference for ‘Fashion King’, Yuri cautiously remarked, “I know that I am lacking in a lot of ways because this is my first time acting, and I am worried about how the viewers will assess my talent.”
“As a singer, you have to spill a lot of energy onto the stage at once, but as an actress, you have to take in a deeper breath and focus on delivering specific emotions with each scene,” she continued. “Each profession has it’s unique appeals. I know that I’m still an amateur, but I have a lot of interest in acting, and I am glad I was given the opportunity to act.”
PD Lee Myun Woo played a large role in helping Yuri with her acting, as did her fellow Girls’ Generation members. PD Lee captured Yuri’s scenes on camera and gave them to her, which helped her practice.
“The members also help me read my lines and give me advice for my character,” she continued. “I am more bright and outgoing, whereas my character Anna Choi is calm and quiet. On set, I have to try to not speak as much as I do normally and always remain calms. More than acting, I try to become the character herself.”
Meanwhile, ‘Fashion King’ tells the story of four young and ambitious individuals who make their dream of becoming a successful designer into a reality. Along their journey, they face hardships, and experience first love.
The drama stars Kwon Yuri, Yoo Ah In, Shin Se Kyung, and Lee Jae Hoon. First episode airs March 19th.
